in the air battle over Dnipropetrovsk The cavalier of three orders, the Guard Major Mikhail Stepanovich Stolyarov died by the death of the brave in the morning of September 20, 1943 during the fighting for the liberation of Dnipropetrovsk from the Nazi occupation forces. Our troops conducted intense fighting for the Dnieper. The squadron of Soviet bombers struck at a group of fascist troops. After one of such attacks, the commander of the squadron M.S. Stolyarov did not return to the airfield. His plane shot down by anti-aircraft artillery of the enemy crashed into the house on Leningradskaya street, 40. M.S. Stolyarov was buried in a common cemetery (now Soborna Square).
